Dream Analysis
A majority of the time, dreams are metaphors for what's really going on in our day-to-day life. To better understand dreams, you have to break down every detail of the dream. We spend one third of our lives sleeping. It's a brilliant part of the choices we make on our chart before we incarnate… since sleep opens up a world of ways to nourish, inform and expand our souls.
During sleep, obviously, our conscious minds take a break and allow our subconscious minds, where our spirit mines live, to take over. And one of the ways the subconscious expresses itself while we sleep is in dreams.
There are hundreds of theories on dream interpretation, and countless brilliant studies of dreams. It speaks volumes about their complexity, and the mysteries hidden inside them, that in spite of all that, dreams seem to keep as many secrets from us as they ever did.
The frequency, timing and cycles of dreaming are connected to the structure of sleep itself. There are two basic stages of sleep: REM and NON-REM.
REM: Stands for "rapid eye movement" and is the lightest stage of sleep.
NON-REM: is the deeper sleep when our muscle responses become almost nonexistent.
It's during REM sleep that we dream, and it's when we're Awakened during or immediately after REM sleep that we are most likely to remember our dreams.
The NON-REM stage accounts for about 75% of our sleep, leaving 25% for REM sleep. And while we sleep, our brain waves fluctuate in approximately 90 minute cycles. Brain waves have been charted into distinct levels for those 90 minutes cycles.
90 Minute Cycles:
Beta: We're wide awake, active and alert.
Alpha: We're awake but relaxed, and our eyes are closed.
Delta: We're very deeply asleep and in the Non-REM stage.
Once we reach the Delta level of the cycle, the order simply reverses, and our sleep becomes progressively lighter again. When we wake up feeling rested and refreshed, it's very likely that these 90 minutes cycles have been allowed to progress on their own without it interference or interruption.
The same parts of the brain that control our sleep cycles also inhibit our other motor activities. That explains why, in the relatively light sleep of REM, when we are still asleep but vaguely aware of our surroundings we'll occasionally have those frustrating dreams in which we want to run but our legs refuse to move… It's a blend of the situation in the dream and the normal, sleep induced inhibition of body motions.
Psychically speaking, dream interpretation has five categories:
Releasing. Wishful. Prophetic. Informative. Astral.
Release: Released dreams are when your subconscious mind takes the opportunity to let off emotional steam your conscious mind hasn't yet dealt with. They are also helpful guides to unfinished business that needs your attention.
Wishful: Wishful dreams are exactly what they sound like… If we don't make the mistake of taking wishful dreams to literally, they can throw a valuable spotlight on wishes you may not have even put into words yet. Sexual dreams, for example, aren't necessarily about sexual desire at all, or about some deeply buried attraction to others that appear in the dream… They are usually a wish for more intimacy in your life, which doesn't have to be physical at all. A dream about a new house doesn't mean you should wake up the next morning and call a Realtor... It can mean there's something about yourself (you are where you live, after all, regardless of what house you occupy) that you are longing to change. I dream about giving birth definitely is not a cue to get pregnant… That new life you're giving birth to could be yours, some good idea you are about to bring into fruit Tatian or some new spiritual depth in yourself you are starting to unearth. In other words, always look at the overview rather then the specifics of wishful dreams.
Prophetic: These are simply dreams that predict some future moment, conversation or event. You don't have to be a practicing psychic when you are awake for the spirit mind to show off amazing psychic powers while you're sleeping. If you suspect that you tend to dream prophetically, try this for 30 days; Write down every dream you can remember that you think might have been a glimpse into the future, put it away and don't look at it until those 30 days have passed. It will be easily apparent whether or not your dreams are true prophetic, bearing in mind that "truly prophetic" doesn't just mean seeing into the future, it means doing it accurately.
Informative: Explains why and how you can go to sleep completely perplexed about a situation for an unresolved issue and wake up knowing exactly what to do. The dreams themselves may not even appear to bear any resemblance to what's troubling you, but with the spirit mind, your spirit guides, and infused knowledge, it is through symbolism that the point comes across in translation to the conscious mind.
Astral: technically are not dreams. Have you ever had a dream about a visit to a departed loved one, or to someone or someplace on earth, or Home, or anywhere in the universe, that seemed to be very real and, unlike most dreams, proceeded in a logical order from beginning to end? The probability is strong that your Spirit made a brief visit to The Other Side by Astral Travel. It is important to mention that because of the frequency with which Astro visits are confused with dreams, remember, just because it happened while you were sleeping doesn't mean it was a dream. If it seemed exceptionally real and proceeded in a logical order from beginning to end, rest assured it was an astral visit.
In our dream analysis classes, you are taught how to substitute symbolism into metaphors… To understand what the dream symbolizes. You also understand which of the five styles of dreams you were analyzing. Dreaming is as essential to us as breathing. Whether we remember our dreams or not, whether we understand what they may mean or not, they are a release valve, and the mind's way of protecting and preserving the sense of balance.
