Cults

There are so many people that are always giving serious thought to joining a "group" or "sect" or "mission"… These groups are never honest enough to call themselves a "cult." They always have a very charismatic, devout leader at its core. It doesn't matter if they are something or someplace new or if they have a long time familiar name behind them. Often times, especially when I write something, I attack these types of groups. I offer advice or a different outlook for people to participate in a wider outlook of these groups.

And I've had my share of people who disagree with me, especially if I gear my opinions towards religious groups. (Whom many, but not all, are the largest cults backed by money "in the name of God.")

Let me be direct about this… I believe in "freedom." I also believe in applying freedom to "freedom of religion." I'm just not clear on how groups who promote/tolerate isolation, tax evasion, child molestation, involuntary servitude, suicide, child or adult endangerment, or mind control should be qualified to give any advice or opinions or guidance to any human being regardless of what they claim to believe in.

I would say that it doesn't take a genius to know these things, but the fact that so many fall victim to these groups, I will say it again... Any place or group that asks or pressures you to join, be obedient to, relocate, &/or donate money to, DON'T!!! Again, I believe in your freedom. I do not care what particular group you belong to… Or religion you belong to and practice… But even if you step out of those group(s), just remember that either way, as long as you are a good person, you are doing the right thing... Regardless of what you have been told or taught.

And remember, not all Cults will insist that you denounce family and friends, relocate and isolate yourself from the rest of society. But that does happen as well.

The truth is, there's only one reason these groups, or any other scam artist, for that matter, wants to isolate you from family, friends and society in general… Because they can't control you if outsiders are stepping in with more opinions. And even if it's in the world of religion, if they are telling you to stay away from "anybody", for any kind of reason, they are insulting your intelligence because they see that others can be a threat to them by influencing you. And they do not want you to think for yourself.

The worst possible thing for any cult-like group to face is being stripped away from money and possessions… Because that would mean that they would not have followers that believe in them.

One of the most popular and common ways to have followers give money is to say "it's for God." So the best way for you to understand if you are being brainwashed, is take a look around and ask yourself "what use does God want with my money?" Another popular one that is used is "Blessed are the poor." But remember churches and religious groups are able to get government funding faster and easier than colleges and universities.

If, after considering those issues and a whole lot more, you still decide to follow some group or mission or charismatic leader because it's what you truly feel destined to do, I wish you well. Just one final request, don't drag your children or others into your decision! Fair is only fair. They should have the same right to (someday) choose too... Not be forced into it.
